Grand Carpet/Social Responsibility Policy

Social Responsibility Policy

Non-discrimination

We are committed to providing equal opportunity to everyone. We do not discriminate, and do not permit discrimination, on grounds such as age, language, race, colour, gender, ethnicity, political opinion, religion, belief, health status, marital status, military service status or disability. We apply the principle of equality across every employment decision — recruitment, termination, promotion, pay, seniority, leave and training.

Fair pay

We take the measures needed to ensure our employees are paid fairly for the work they do. Our pay management is built fairly and transparently, on performance-related criteria and an assessment of sector and local conditions. Alongside the social rights provided by law, we take care to operate a pay system sufficient to provide a liveable standard for our employees and their families. Wages, overtime and cash benefits are paid monthly, on time, regularly and in full.

Reasonable working hours

Our shift system is defined and the İŞKUR Regional Directorate has been informed of it. Blue-collar employees work 7.5 hours a day, six days a week, with one day off. White-collar employees work 9 hours a day, five days a week, with two days off. Overtime is worked only with written consent obtained from employees who agree to work beyond 45 hours a week. Those who decline to sign the consent form are not required to work overtime. In line with the Labour Act, a maximum of 270 hours of overtime a year may be worked; overtime is paid above the statutory rate under the terms of the employment contract.

Preventing child and young labour

The company applies a zero-tolerance policy on child labour and forced labour and does not employ child workers, directly or indirectly. Only vocational high-school students on formal internships may work, on the basis of the rules set by their school. In placing interns, safety, health, physical, mental, moral and psycho-social development and personal competence are taken into account; every new intern receives health-and-safety and grievance-mechanism training. Interns are given work that does not interfere with their attendance or achievement at school; they may not be employed on hazardous work, for more than 8 hours a day or 40 hours a week, or at night. Robust age verification is applied at recruitment, in a manner that does not compromise the individual’s dignity.

Raising employee awareness

We believe the foundation of social compliance is informed employees. At recruitment and at regular intervals we brief our employees on their individual rights, company rules and working conditions in order to raise awareness, and we undertake that all employees are engaged in accordance with national law and regulation.
